Operation Covert Flag
So the girls have been doing a bit of innocent rebellion. We have been plotting to put our flag in our local playspace and to make it as beautiful as we know our group to be. This little act of rebellion has bonded the girls together and given our growing group the encouragement that we need to continue to thrive. Keep up with our progress!
Our president did all of the math (thank goodness!)
And people kept turning up to help!
Our VP has some woodworking skills
Some two toned red paint for the heart
and a very patient man to touch up the lines
Our treasurer built a frame and we added the finishing touches
The SLCgol is so grateful for our committed and passionate members. Together, we are going to do great things!

Today in LGBTQ History...
The SLCgol believe that history is a important piece of our own story. Here are some "today in history" facts
- 1950- The US Senate authorizes an investigation into the employment of homosexuals by the federal government.
- 1974- First conference of gay organizations in Canada's prairies closes, hosted by Saskatoon (Saskatchewan) Gay Action.
- 1979- Canadian National Lesbian Conference opens in Toronto.
- 1980- The first Gay American Arts Festival opens in New York City.
- 1983- The US television show 20/20 does its first show on AIDS. It had been a forbidden topic until network TV executives learned that innocent children were getting the disease.
- 1987- Former US air force Sgt. Leonard Matlovich, among the earliest gay men to challenge the US military's policy against gays and lesbians, announced on the US TV show Good Morning America that he has AIDS.
- 1992- Springfield, Oregon, voters pass a law prohibiting the passing of any law protecting homosexuals from discrimination. City agencies were given the okay to deny services to gay organizations and any organization supportive of gay rights, public libraries were ordered to remove from their shelves any books which were neutral or positive on the topic of homosexuality, and gay pride events were banned from public property.

So Much Excitement
It is amazing to watch this group gain momentum. We knew the power women had but this is amazing! We have accomplished so many things and are feeling inspired, driven, and so very fulfilled. We can't wait to share more and continue to grow as individuals and a group. Keep an eye on us! We are INSPIRED!
The Women's Patch Project
The SLCgol wants your patch
We are collecting patches from women's groups from all of the world to display them as an example of the power and reach of Leather women. We believe in the power of women bonded together and want to create a physical display that represents the diversity that this community holds.
If you have a patch that you would be willing to donate to our display, we would be honored to add it to ours. We look forward to hearing from you!
